APBN President visits NSE

The National President of the Association of Professional Bodies (APBN), Dr Omede Idris visited the headquarters of the Nigerian Society of Engineers. 
His visit on Thursday 20th April 2017 coincided with the Executive meeting of the Society. The NSE is a member of the APBN

The President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Engr. Otis Anyaeji FNSE, FAEng, FNIMechE is leading the Nigeria Delegation to the Ghana Institution of Engineers (GhIE) 2017 Engineering Conference.

The theme of the Ghana Institution of Engineers (GhIE) is "Ghana's Natural Resources and Sustainable Development -The Role of the Engineer", which is currently taking place at the Eusbett Hotel Sunyani, Brong Ahafo Region, Ghana.

The NSE delegates therefore joined their counterparts from other African Countries here in Sunyani Ghana, to participate actively at the opening ceremony, today, tuesday 28th March, 2017. Highlight of other programs at the Annual Conference include plenary, technical sessions, health walk, students forum, women in engineering forum, election of new President of the GhIE and her Inauguration & banquet and other programs.

NSE Recommends Local Manufacturer of Vehicle Speed Limiters


The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) has recommended the manufacturer of vehicle speed limiter devices locally. President of NSE, Engr. Otis Anyaeji, FNSE, FAEng made this position known when he visited the Minister of Science and Technology, Engr. Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, FNSE, FAEng in Abuja, on Thursday, March 17, 2017.

Anyaeji, said that the local production of the device will boost the capacity of Nigerian Engineers, additionally, create jobs and enable government to save scarce foreign exchange.  According to him, the country will save N40 billion which would have been used to import the device from foreign manufacturers.  “We understand that the retail price of this device is about N40, 000. We estimate about a million commercial vehicles being targeted by FRSC will be involved. And on the face of it this translates to N40 billion at commencement’’ he said.

The President expressed his delight in receiving delegates of Nigerian Universities Engineering Students Association (NUESA), led by Comrade Ahmed Yusuf (President NUESA). 


The President NSE entourage: Engr. Tasiu S. Gidari-Wudil, FNSE (Vice President Engineering Services Bureau), Engr. Mrs. Halimat Adediran, MNSE (Nat. Exco Member) Engr. Sola Obadimu, MNSE (Executive Secretary), and Engr. Ola Taiwo, FNSE (Ag. Director)

The President charged NUESA to begin now to recognize and reflect the diversity of engineering in their proposed 2017 Annual Engineering Students Conference/AGM.

The President speaking against the backdrop of the Guinness Book of Records that certified Engineering as the 'toughest' course in the university, charged NUESA executives to be studious and diligent as they strive towards graduating with flying colours. 

The President, who was decorated as "Grand Patron of NUESA" also addressed sundry requests from NUESA viz sponsorship of NUESA engineering conference, inclusion in the NSE National Engineering Conference,  and request for office space at NEC. The President informed the leadership of NUESA that a desk office has been assigned to cater for the needs of the body.

It was a great moment on Saturday 18th March, 2017, as ATMAN Publishers Limited celebrated a Mechanical Engineer, Martins Ibitolu at the Wocdiff Centre, Osogbo.

Engr M.B. Ibitolu, a Member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) and a Registered Engineer with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN). He is a native of Kabba/Bunu LGA of Kogi State. He was the General Manager of the Nigerian Machine Tools before its privatization in 2006. After privatization, Engr Ibitolu was appointed as the Technical Adviser to the Managing Director and later, Operations Manager (Technical) before he finally disengaged from the Company in 2015.

The event was attended by the President of the NSE, Engr Otis Oliver Tabugbo Anyaeji FNSE, FAEng, FNIMechE who was represented by a National Executive Member, who doubles as the Chair Media & Publicity, Engr Ibitoye Adeniran Kilomodemo FNSE, FNIMechE, FAutoEl.

Prof Folu Agbedahunsi of Pharmacognocy, OAU, Ile Ife) chaired the event while Prof Ade Akinola of Applied/Engineering Maths, (OAU Ile Ife) was the Book Reviewer.

The Nigerian Institution of Water Engineers (NIWE) Gets Makurdi Chapter.

The Nigerian Institution of Water Engineers (NIWE), Makurdi Chapter, was inaugurated on Friday March 10, 2017, in Makurdi, Benue State. The inauguration was done by the national leadership of NIWE.

The President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, NSE, Engr. Otis Anyaeji, FNSE, FAEng, chaired the occasion. The President was represented by the Chairman, NSE Makurdi Branch, Engr. Msugh Orkor, MNSE.

The National Chairman of  NIWE, Engr. Ogundayo Adekola, FNSE, was represented by the NIWE National Vice Chairman, Engr. Abolade Lawal, MNSE, and accompanied by NIWE National General Secretary, Engr. Joshua Sanga, MNSE.

According to Engr. Orkor, the NIWE Makurdi Chapter has  nine Executive Committee members. They are:

The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) Abuja Branch today, Saturday, March 11, 2017, inducted 55 New Corporate Members. The New Members took the oath and pledged their loyalty to the Society and the profession.

Speaking at the event, the President of NSE, Engr. Otis Oliver Tabugbo Anyaeji FNSE, FAEng, FNIMechE commended the spirited effort by the successful leadership of the Branch towards the growth of the Society, by way of attracting membership. He further acknowledged the support of the Branch towards the establishment of new Branches within the territory, namely, the NSE Maitama Branch and NSE Giri Branch. 

President Anyaeji, represented by Vice President, Engr. T. S. G. Wudil FNSE also commended the Institution of the Engr. Charles Mbanefo Annual Lecture Series, saying it was yet another milestone. He charged the Abuja Branch Excos to immediately introduce entrepreneurship enlightenment programme, where Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) could be invited to come and lecture Engineers on wealth/job creation, this, he said, will no doubt, go a long way, in strengthening the capability of Members.
