As part of activities aimed at increasing cooperation and consultation with key stakeholders and the Society, on Tuesday, July 18, 2017, the President of NSE, Engr. Otis Anyaeji, FNSE, FAEng led a team of senior Engineers to pay official visit to Honourable Minister of Labour and Employment, His Excellency, Sen. Dr. Chris Ngige in Abuja.

Remarks by Mr. President

Engr. Anyaeji stated the visit was a follow-up to the earlier visit which took place in 2016. The President commended the Honourable Minister on the exemplary delivery on the mandate of the Ministry.

Furthermore, the President said that the visit was intended to provide a platform to work out the modalities for synergy with the Ministry. 

Some of the areas of synergy requested by the President include;
Joint inspection of public buildings and consequent display of the relevant certificates conspicuously for the public to take note at such buildings.

Requested the Honourable Minister to vigorously push for the rapid industrialization of the country as part of effort at actualizing the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan.
Requested the massive engagement of Nigerian Consulting Engineers by the Ministry.
Requested the Minister to push at the highest level of government greater participation of Nigerian Engineers in the Oil and Gas industry.
Requested for partnership between NSE and the Ministry in the area of productivity.
The Ministry to extract the labour content in all federal government contracts and to ensure the relevant Nigerian professionals benefit from such jobs.

Response by the Honourable Minister

The Minister urged NSE to partner science and technology incubation centers across the country for the development of prototype machines.
Urged Engineers to embark on massive production of industrial machines and shun white collar jobs.

Engineers should help government stamp out the activities of quacks in the construction industry.
Accepted to partner NSE to help in sanitizing the health occupation area.

WFEO Presidency: Cheering News as FG Declares to Back NSE

The Federal Government has announced it will map out firm strategies for the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), to clinch the Presidency of the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO). Minister of Science and Technology, Engr. Ogbonnaya Onu, FNSE, FAEng dropped the hint today Thursday, June 29, 2017, when he received the President of NSE, Engr. Otis Anyaeji, FNSE, FAEng and top officials of the African Union (AU), in Abuja.

Ogbonnaya told Anyaeji, the WFEO election in which Past President of NSE, Engr. Mustafa Balarabe Shehu, FNSE is a frontline candidate is major task for the federal government. He said that the government through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will go all out to mobilize all friendly nations of the world for their delegates to support Shehu at the polls.

Earlier, Anyaeji told him that the support of the federal government by galvanizing countries with the voting right at the election was vital to giving Nigeria victory in December 2017, when the election will be held. He also told him that the AU is eagerly awaiting government approval and sponsorship of Shehu’s candidature to enable them swing into action by lobbying other regional bodies with heavy representation at the world engineering body, in order to secure victory for Nigeria and Africa at the polls.  

The President thanked the Minister for his favourable disposition to the NSE ambition for the world engineering body leadership position. He also commended him for his immense contribution to the growth of the Society and the profession.

Advert for the position of Executive Secretary

The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) is the umbrella organisation for Engineering in Nigeria and it looks after the professional needs of all Engineers in their wide-spectrum of specializations through structured initiatives in membership and other high standard and ethical practices


The Executive Secretary is the head of NSE Secretariat and provides execution to the management and administration of the affairs of the Society on behalf of the Council. He reports directly to the Executive Committee of the Society. He is amongst other things responsible for the following;

  • oversees the day-to-day management of the Secretariat
  • Responsible for defining the priorities of the Secretariat activities and functions
  • Coordinate change management programmes for the Society
  • Directs the Preparation of all financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, reports to Executive Committee and Council, tax returns and other reports for government regulatory agencies.
  • Confers with directors to coordinate and prioritize planning of resources.

To perform this role, the successful candidate must;

  • Be experienced in strategic planning and execution
  • Have the ability and proven experience in managing, motivating and communicating with independent groups of people.
  • Be able to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight time frames and simultaneously manage several projects


Interested candidates (internal and external) shall have the following qualifications and experiences as minimum:

  • Be a Corporate engineer/member of NSE (any applicant indebted to NSE financially as at the date of application will be disqualified)
  • Be COREN Registered Engineer and in good stead with COREN.

Have a minimum of 17 years post-graduation experience in the Public Sector, Private Sector, Industry or Academia, 5 years of which must be in top management position

Master Business Administration and knowledge of ICT shall be advantageous




The tenure of the Executive Secretary is an initial term of 3 years in the first instance and can only be renewable for additional 3 years by NSE Council.

The Space Engineering Division of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, organised a One-Day Interactive Seminar on Tuesday 20th June, 2017 at the Conference hall of Nigerian Communications Satellite Limited, Obasanjo Space Centre, Airport Road Lugbe, Abuja.

The President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Engr Otis Anyaeji FNSE, FAEng chaired the event with the theme "Improving Nigeria's Socio Economic Development through Space Science and Technology".

The three Guest Speakers for the day were the Acting Chief of Defence Space Administration, Rear Admiral F.O Isaac, 

Director Data Service, ONSA, Lt Col S S Seidu and Dr Mohammad Alkali of NigComSat Limited.

Among the important dignitaties in attendance were Ag. Chief of Defence Space Administration, Rear Admiral F.O Isaac, Col Timinere Mackintosh, Col Risku Hedima, Group Captain Idu Emmanuel, Lt Col S S Seidu Director Data Service, Office of the National Security Adviser, Air Commodore Oluwatoyin, among others. Also in attendance were the MD/CE of NigComSat Ltd, Ms Abimbola Alale who was the host was ably represented by Engr Dr Lawal Lasisi Salami, Staff and Students of Premiere Academy, Redeemers Private Secondary School, both in Abuja,

The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) President, Engr Otis Oliver Tabugbo Anyaeji FNSE, FAEng today wednesday paid a courtesy visit to His Excellency, Engr Chief Olusegun Mathew Aremu Okikiolu Obasanjo, GCFR, FNSE, FAEng at his Hilltop Residence, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The NSE President and his entourage felicitated with the Ebora of Owu, who is also a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (FNSE) and a Fellow of the Academy of Engineering in Nigeria (FAEng), on the auspicious occasion of his 80th birthday which was marked a few weeks ago.

What a wonderful session with the Maestro, Elder Statesman, Political Juggernaut, Engr Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, as he was full of enthusiasm and zest, as he jocularly said he would stand to address "his President". And Baba kept his word!

He thanked and appreciated the President and his entourage for the professional visit. He was later presented with gifts on behalf of the Nigerian Engineers. He is indeed a true citizen of the world, with boundless energy and a razor-sharp mind.

The President thereafter spoke of the willingness of the Society to host a reception in his honour, probably in Abuja, before the end of the year.

In the entourage of the NSE President were the NSE Deputy President/President-Elect, Engr Adekunle Mokuolu FNSE, Past ACEN President, Engr Modupeola Mayen Adetiba FNSE, National Exco Member/Chairman, Media and Publicity, Engr Adeniran Kilomodemo Ibitoye FNSE, National Exco Member/Chairman Welfare Committee, Engr Yakubu Ali Garba FNSE, National Chairman of the Nigerian Institution of Electrical & Electronics Engineers, Engr Emmanuel Akinwole FNSE & Executive Secretary, Engr Olusola Obadimu, MNSE.

Others were the Branch Chairmen of Lagos Branch, Engr Johnson Akinwande FNSE, Ikeja Branch, Engr Charles Akintola FNSE, Ota Branch, Engr Dr Akin Adeoye FNSE and Apapa Branch, Engr Garba Ombugadu MNSE.

The Abeokuta Branch Chairman, Engr Abbass Mohammed FNSE, Vice Cbairman, Engr Dr O. Apampa, NIEEE Abeokuta Chapter Chairman, Engr Dele Oladipupo MNSE, and other Abeokuta Members were also in attendance.
