PROFILE

 

Engr. Dr. Olumide Moses Ogundipe was born over four decades ago into the family of Late Hamzart Igbekele Ogundipe and Mrs. Margaret Omolade Ogundipe of Ondo City, Ondo West Local Government, Ondo State. He completed Primary School at Awosika Memorial Primary School, Ondo in 1989 and proceeded to Ondo Boys’ High Ondo, Ondo State, where he passed the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination in 1995. He bagged his first degree in Civil Engineering at University of Ado-Ekiti, Nigeria (now Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti) with First Class Honours in 2001. He got admission into the University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Kwara State  in 2004 and obtained Master of Engineering Degree in Civil Engineering in 2006. He won the prestigious Petroleum Technology Development Fund Ph.D Scholarship in year 2008 and travelled to the University of Nottingham, Nottingham, United Kingdom, where he carried out research on the Mechanical Behaviour of Stress Absorbing Membrane Interlayers and bagged Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Civil Engineering in year 2011.

 

He was posted to Sokoto State for the mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme and had the service year at Federal Government College, Sokoto, Sokoto State, where he taught Mathematics from January to December 2002. He worked briefly as a Trainee Engineer at Delcon Engineering Company, Effurun, Warri, Delta State from August to  December 2003. He was employed as Assistant Lecturer at University of Ado-Ekiti, Nigeria  (now Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti) in 2004. He rose through the ranks and was pronounced Associate Professor (Reader) of Civil Engineering in year 2016. A position he holds till date. He has over sixteen (16) years teaching (undergraduate and postgraduate) and research experience. He is currently on Sabbatical in the Department of Civil Engineering, University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Kwara State.

He has held different positions as an academic, among which are: Level Adviser; Departmental Examination Officer; Coordinator, General Studies (Faculty of Engineering); Representative of the Faculty of Engineering on the Faculty of Education Board; Departmental Coordinator, Student Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES); Member, Monitoring Committee Part- Time Programme First Semester 2011/2012 Examinations; Chairman, Faculty of Engineering Water Supply Committee - 2011/2012 Session; Member, Faculty of Engineering Business Committee: 2011/2012 to 2014; Member University Committee on Production of Past Questions and Answers for Post UTME Examinations; Member, University Committee on Commercial Farm; Acting Head, Department of Computer Engineering, Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti: August 2013-2015; Acting Head, Department of Civil Engineering, Ekiti State University, Ado- Ekiti:  August  2015-2017, and   Member, University Senate  (2013-2017). He is  currently     the

Chairman, Faculty of Engineering Postgraduate Committee; Chairman, Faculty of Engineering Research Committee; and Member, College of Postgraduate Studies Academic and Research Committee and Member, College of Postgraduate Studies Board.

 

He has supervised Civil Engineering Theses at the Postgraduate Diploma, Master and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) levels and served as Examiner on Master and PhD examinations within and outside Ekiti State University. He is also a reviewer for many Local and International Journals. He has published over 50 well researched articles in both international and local journals and proceedings of conferences.

 

Engr Dr. Olumide Moses Ogundipe is a Corporate Member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers and the Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers. He is an active and dedicated member of the Society. He served the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Ado-Ekiti Branch as Publicity Secretary, Assistant General Secretary, General Secretary, Vice Chairman and the Chairman at different times. He was Secretary, Board of Trustees, Nigerian Society of Engineers, Ado-Ekiti Branch from 2015-2016 and he is currently a member of the Board. He was Chairman, Public Lecture Committee and Conference and Annual General Meeting Organising Committee of the the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Ado-Ekiti Branch from August 2016 to September 2018.

He served as a member of the Civil Division Committee of the Nigerian Society of Engineers at the National level, in the year 2018. He was a member of the Council of the Nigerian Society of Engineers from 2018-2020. He is a Registered Civil Engineer certified by the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria in the year 2008.

He is married with Children.

 

MISSION STATEMENT

To use the platform of the Nigerian Society of Engineers to ensure that government at all levels gives the welfare of Engineers in Nigeria the attention it deserves, as key players in the development of Nigeria and to make sure that Nigerian Engineers take their rightful place in the development of Nation.
