                  PROFILE OF ENGR. DR. ABDULRASHEED BABALOLA

Engr. Dr. Abdulrasheed  BABALOLA, MNSE is an accomplished Chemical Engineer with a well-developed background in the Oil and Gas Industry. Extensive experience in Refinery and Pipeline Operations as well as in Paints and Chemical production, Equipment Fabrication, Process Analysis and Enhancement with a proven ability to combine technical knowledge and understanding with a strong commercial awareness. Also a Personate trained Teacher with wealth of experience. He holds PhD, M.ENG, PGD, HND and ND all in Chemical Engineering. He has worked with Oil and Gas Industries in various capacities at NNPC/PPMC as well as in paint and Chemical industry. He is the Chairman of RABAB Nig. Limited, a paint production and consulting firm, also Managing Director of Tecnik Specialist Services and Consultancy limited. He is currently a Senior Lecturer with Akwa Ibom State University, Uyo and the Ag Head of Chemical / Petrochemical Engineering Department.  His area of research is Reaction Engineering Kinetics, Catalysis, Nanotechnology and Petroleum.

Professionally, he has attended a number of trainings and workshops. He has (at several times) been the Assistant Technical Secretary, Technical Secretary of the Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Kaduna Chapter. He has also served the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Kaduna Branch as Assistant Publicity Secretary, Publicity Secretary, Vice Chairman and as  Chairman.  Engr. Dr. Abdulrasheed BABALOLA has membership to many professional bodies such as Member, Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Member, American Istitute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), Member Nigerian Society of Chemical Engineers (NSChE), Member, Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM Chartered) as well as a registered Engineer with Council for Regulation of Nigerian Engineers (COREN). He has a number of Academic and Technical publications to his credit. He is happily married to Mrs Mojisola Tinuola Babalola and the marriage has been blessed with Children.

                                               Contributions to NSE

  1. As an academics/ National EXCO of NSE, I have continuously used my influence to secure SIWES placement/ Industrial Training for young Engineers both as Students, NYSC or Graduates
  2. I have Attended Engineering Programme at all the 6 geopolical zones of Nigeria and have Advocated the oneness and Indivisible Nigerian Engineers at all level and the needs for fair play and justice
  3. As a University Head of Department and former Oil worker, I have led Hundreds of Engineering students for Excursion at several Oil & Gas companies in Nigeria as well as secure Jobs for many. All these in my bid to bridge the gabs between leaning and practice of Engineering in Nigeria
  4. I have been involved in many Engineering Research and Development e.g Developed Zeolite Y Catalyst for Catalytic Cracking Unit of a Refinery with Patent, Developed a portable  mobile water treatment plant for homes, industries,IDP Camps and etc.

                              Other Contributions are:

  1. Electrification of Meeting Hall with Full light during meetings
  2. Procurement of industrial Fans for Meeting Hall
  3. Construction of Podium with full inscription of NSE Kaduna Branch Logo
  4. Revamped the spouses forum which has been moribund for over 12years
  5. Ensure the Standardization of all Chapters of our Engineering divisions ( NIMechE, NIEEE, NIAE, NSChE, AutoEI, APWEN and NIPE) in Kaduna through high level collaboration
  6. Relocation of NSE secretariat to a more befitting, fully Air conditioned building , provided to NSE by Kaduna State Government through creation of awareness and impactful programmes
  7. Brought NSE close to Government through laudable programme which promote Engineering activities
  8. Collaboration with Journalist therefore, showcasing our programmes and activities in both print and electronic media at minimum or no cost at all.
  9. Organize more lively General Meetings with Attendance of between 180 - 240 Members at each Meetings with Technical Papers at each Meetings
  10. Purchase a new model Toyota Siena Bus for ease of movement for Branch Chairman ,other Executives and Members
  11. Carried out a very stable overhauling of Branch Bus which has been more of liability than assets, because of the high cost of monthly maintenance.
  12. Employment of a Professional driver to manage the Branch Vehicles
  13. Retrieve back the Branch’s above 20 plots of land that was revoked by Government over 10 years before I become Chairman.
  14. Paid the accumulated grant rent and C of O charges for the Branch land at Trade Fair complex
  15. Made a complete perimeter fencing for the 4 plots of Branch land at Kudenda area of Kaduna.
  16. Institutionalized a Science based quiz competition among Secondary schools in Kaduna state. This is to encourage the study of Science and Engineering. Award of mobile Laboratory kits worth N250,000 was given as star prize with other fantabulous Awards at maiden edition.
  17. Introduced group discussions among Kaduna Engineers e.g Created “The Great Kaduna Engineers” ( comprising all practicing Engineers in Kaduna State). EXCO forum, Elders forum, Committee Chairmen forum, Secretariat Building Committee forum, Inter School Quiz Competition forum, Young Engineers forum, Job seekers forum, New Members forum and Encouraged the formation of forum for all the 8 chapters that exist in Kaduna Branch
  18. Organizes Annual free workshop for young Engineers on services design for Civil, Mechanical and Electrical.
  19. Organizes Senior Consultants, Contractors and Young Engineers interface for interaction and training free of charge
  20. Collaborated with NYSC officials on postings of Engineering Corp Members into engineering firms
  21. Collaborate with some science based secondary schools by donating trophy for the best student in core science subjects
  22. Conducts employment interview for Kaduna state Government in Engineering area due to awareness creation
  23. Initiated the plan for Kaduna State University to commence Engineering
  24. Regular attendance of Council, Branch EXCO and General Meetings, Courtesy and Industrial visits etc, despite the distance of my new working place (Akwa Ibom) each time using my hard earn money to foot my travelling bill.
  25. Frequent seminars inviting Director Generals of research institutes, Defense etc., MDs of Companies, Head of Road safety, Police, Civil defense etc to present papers
  26. I operated complete team work with my Executives, what really help me is my carrot and stick approach of stewardship. I don’t hide my annoyance to whoever has failed in his / her responsibilities as EXCO member and also publicly praise anyone who has meet up with expectations.
  27. No stone was left on turned in ensuring the success of last year Conference/AGM tagged KADA2018 but held in DIASPORA, Chida Event Center, Abuja. Worked harmoniously with CPC towards it’s huge success
